Cardinal Schönborn offers glimpse of seminar for former Ratzinger students
CWN - August 30, 2012
Cardinal Christoph Schönborn of Vienna, who will be among the participants in a weekend seminary along with other former theology students of Pope Benedict XVI, spoke with Vatican Radio about both the topic (ecumenism) and the conduct of the annual seminar.
Although the Ratzinger Schülerkreis is held in an informal atmosphere, it is primarily an academic exercise, “and this means that what counts are the arguments,” the Austrian cardinal said. He added, however, that the annual meetings allow former students to renew old friendships, and the participation of the Pontiff—who hosts the event at his summer residence in Castel Gandolfo—ensures a high quality of participation.
