Irish diocesan officials demanded government briefing on sex-abuse reports Facebook Twitter December 31, 2008

Officials of the Diocese of Cloyne-- which is under heavy fire for mishandling of sex-abuse complaints-- reportedly demanded access to all information in government files about an incident reported earlier this year. The diocesan officials declined to meet with government officials until they had received a full accounting of the information in government files. The Cloyne diocese, already shaken by critical published reports of the handling of sex-abuse cases, is bracing for the publication of a separate government report next week.
