Australian clerics cool to program bringing priests from abroad
Catholic World News - August 01, 2012
A report for the Australian diocese of Maitland-Newscastle has concluded that a program of bringing in priests from overseas has left resident clerics “demoralized” and “sometimes resentful,” The Tablet reports.
The internal report said that priests from the Maitland-Newscastle diocese were unhappy with the influx of priests from abroad, and considered the program a “band-aid solution” to the enduring shortage of priestly vocations.
