Polish 'Youth Crusade' seeks cancellation of Madonna concert in Warsaw

CWN - July 18, 2012

Young Catholics have organized a petition drive calling for cancellation of a concert scheduled by Madonna in Warsaw on August 1.

August 1 is the anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, the petition notes, and the concert by the controversial American pop star should not occur on a day when the nation recalls the 200,000 people who died during that action. “We pay our respects to those who survived and those who perished in the uprising,” the young Poles argue. “We won't allow the desecration of our hallowed symbols."
