European bishops discuss Year of Faith, media outreach, intergenerational solidarity
CWN - July 12, 2012
Representatives of Europe’s episcopal conferences met in Cologne, Germany this week to discuss a series of mutual concerns, including preparations for the Year of Faith, relations with the media, and church finances. Meanwhile the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) joined with other representatives and with leaders of the European Union for a seminar on “Intergenerational Solidarity.” COMECE representatives urged European political leaders to recognize the importance of strong family life as a precondition for economic recovery, and the value of the sabbath rest as a protection for workers and a benefit to families.
