Man acquitted for beating priest he said abused him
CWN - July 06, 2012
Two years after a man entered a retirement home and beat a Jesuit priest he says abused him, a California jury has ruled that the man is not guilty of felony assault and elder abuse. Father Jerold Lindner, SJ, denies abusing the man but has been named in a dozen other abuse cases.
“I was wrong for what I did,” said William Lynch, 45. "If I'm going to be taking responsibility, I have to take it fully. And in [beating the priest] I was perpetuating the cycle of violence.”
“A fake name, gloves, beating and bloodying someone. – that’s not justice under the law, that’s revenge,” the Santa Clara County district attorney commented after the ruling.
