Chicago archdiocese to pay out $1.2 million in McCormack sex-abuse settlement
Catholic World News - December 19, 2008
The Chicago archdiocese has agreed to pay $1.2 million to a young man who reported being molested repeatedly by a former pastor, Father Daniel McCormack, who is now serving a 5-year prison sentence after being convicted on other sex-abuse charges. Revelations about McCormack's misconduct, and the failure of archdiocesan officials to address the problem, shook the archdiocese earlier this year and prompted calls for the resignation of Cardinal George.
