Vatican to end VIS information service

Catholic World News - June 13, 2012

At the direction of the Secretariat of State, Vatican Information Service (VIS) will cease to exist as a separate information service on July 31.

The VIS staff will be reassigned to the staff of the daily bulletin of the Holy See Press Office or to the staff of the Pontifical Council for Social Communication’s news portal (news.va).

After July 31, the 60,000 subscribers to VIS updates will instead receive translations of the bulletin of the Holy See Press Office.
