Reject a culture of lies, Pope asks faithful of Rome
CWN - June 12, 2012
Baptism is “the first step of the Resurrection,” Pope Benedict XVI remarked during a liturgical service at the basilica of St. John Lateran on Monday evening, June 11.
Speaking at the opening of an ecclesial convention for the Rome diocese, the Holy Father focused on Baptism, and especially on the renunciation of sin. In today’s world, he said, rejecting “the devil and all his works” often entails saying “No” to a culture that denies a place for God—a culture that ignores what is true and good, in which “falsehood is presented in the guise of truth and information.”
