Vatican confirms papal valet’s arrest for illegal possession of documents

The director of the Holy See Press Office issued a statement on May 26 confirming that Paolo Gabriele, the Pope’s valet, has been arrested for “illegal possession of Vatican documents found in his apartment.”
At the invitation of Vatican magistrates, Gabriele has retained two attorneys. The case has now been turned over to investigating judge Piero Antonio Bonnet.
