US team captures Vatican soccer tourney

A team of US priests and seminarians from the Pontifical North American College has captured the annual “Clericus Cup,” the soccer tournament among Rome’s pontifical universities and seminaries.

The “North American Martyrs” defeated the defending champions from the Gregorian University by a score of 2-0 to take home the championship for the first time. The North American College squad had twice been runner-up in the competition.
