Australian priest left parish voluntarily after disclosing secret marriage
CWN - May 08, 2012
An Australian priest left his parish voluntarily after revealing that he was secretly married, his bishop has disclosed.
Bishop Anthony Fisher of Parramatta said that “no punitive action has been taken” against Father Kevin Lee. The priest left his parish “of his own accord,” he said, without consulting diocesan officials.
Bishop Fisher said that Father Lee recognized that he could not continue to serve as a pastor in light of his marriage. But the priest did not allow diocesan officials time to address his situation. “He has refused to take calls from me and the diocesan office, and has not communicated his intentions to the Church except through the media,” the bishop explained.
