LifeTeen founder is excommunicated
CWN - December 16, 2008
Msgr. Dale Fushek, the founder of the popular Life Teen program, has been excommunicated. Bishop Thomas Olmstead of Phoenix, Arizona, announced on December 15 that Msgr. Fushek and another priest, Father Mark Dippre, had been excommunicated because they had caused schism by setting up a ministry known as the "Praise and Worship Center," separate from the Cathoilc Church. Msgr. Fushek-- who was once the vicar general of the Phoenix diocese-- established the Praise and Worship Center after he was suspended by the diocese because of allegations of sexual misconduct with minors. The canonical penalty has no effect on Life Teen, with which Fushek is no longer affiliated.
