Italian priest suspended for partisan political campaign

An Italian priest has been suspended from ministry because he is running for public office in defiance of his bishop’s orders.
Father Vincenzo Chiodi, who is a candidate for the city council in Molise, said that he would not withdraw from the race despite the diocesan action. He said that he will continue with his political effort because “the Lord is callng me.”
