Recalling Pope Benedict's fear as conclave moved to elect him
CWN - April 05, 2012
In Our Sunday Visitor, John Norton recalls the candid account that Pope Benedict gave about the moment when he realized that the conclave of April 2005 would elect him:
With profound conviction I said to the Lord: Do not do this to me! You have younger and better people at your disposal, who can face this great responsibility with greater dynamism and greater strength.
The Pope went on to reveal how a friendly note from another cardinal gave him strength and confidence to accept the conclave’s choice.
