San Francisco police remove 'Occupy' protesters from vacant archdiocesan building

Police in San Francisco have removed a group of about 80 “Occupy” protesters who had taken over a building owned by the San Francisco archdiocese.

The protesters entered the 2-story building, belonging to Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory High, on April 2. A spokesman explained that there was “no reason why any building should be vacant when people have no housing,” and asked the archdiocese to accept the protesters to remain. But on April 3, police—acting on request from the archdiocese—entered to remove the group, arresting them on trespassing charges.
