Syria: nuncio calls upon Assad to end civilian killings

The apostolic nuncio to Syria is calling upon President Bashar al-Assad to put a stop to the killing of civilians. An estimated 8,000 have been killed since protests began last year.
“Killing of civilians must stop immediately, and the international community must give a clear message that this situation is simply unacceptable,” said Archbishop Mario Zenari.
