CWN - February 29, 2012
Father Romano Gonsalves, a Goa parish priest, and 1,500 parishioners have been charged with attempted murder following an attack on six policemen who were visiting the church.
Parishioners had feared the police were raiding the church and sought to protect the priest; the priest, in turn, unsuccessfully tried to protect the policemen from the laity’s attack, according to a UCA News report.
