British bishops ask lawmakers: resist pressure for same-sex marriage
Catholic World News - February 21, 2012
Bishop Mark Davies of Shrewsbury, speaking on behalf of the English bishops’ conference, has urged Parliament to resist pressure for the approval of same-sex marriage.
Bishop Davies encouraged lawmakers to preserve “the God-given meaning of marriage, for the sake of all generations to come.” He asked members of Parliament to vote according to their consciences rather than bow to pressure from party leaders.
