Secular journal says Paul VI was right in Humanae Vitae

February 09, 2012

The US Catholic bishops have been adamant in their insistence that the political debate on the Obama mandate involves religious freedom, not contraception. Nevertheless their determination to avoid funding contraceptives has forced public attention to the latter issue as well.

In a remarkable sign of changing public attitudes, Business Insider offers an analysis that says the Catholic teaching is right. The article looks at the predictions that Pope Paul VI made in Humanae Vitae, warning how the acceptance of contraception would harm society, and finds that his predictions were accurate again and again.

The Business Insider piece acknowledges that an overwhelming majority of Americans reject the Church teaching, but asks whether a society that holds up Kim Kardashian and Britney Spears as models can be seen as a fair standard for judging the truths about sexual morality and responsible behavior.
