Mexico: police, military desecrate prison chapel
CWN - January 26, 2012
Joined by other diocesan leaders, Bishop José Raúl Vera López of Saltillo, a northeastern Mexican city of 725,000, has expressed his outrage at the desecration of a chapel during a raid on a prison by military and police forces.
During the January 23 raid, the policemen and soldiers pried open a tabernacle, scattered hosts on the ground, and trampled on them. The bishop will offer Mass outside the prison on January 27 in reparation for the act.
