Vatican: no news on papal visit to Lebanon
CWN - January 24, 2012
The Vatican has declined to confirm reports that Pope Benedict XVI will visit Lebanon in September.
Asked for comment on a report that the Pope would travel to Lebanon for the release of his apostolic exhortation concluding the Synod for the Middle East, a spokesman for the Vatican press office said: “There is no confirmation of such a visit in the bulletin of journeys.”
That official response is not a denial that a trip may be under active consideration. The Vatican typically does not announce papal voyages until a few weeks before they take place.
