Another abortion for the 'religious right'

Columnist Dana Milbank announces that the “religious right” no longer holds sway over the American political system.
The argument itself is unremarkable. What is noteworthy is that Milbank joins a long line of pundits who from time to time over the past 25 years, have proclaimed either that Christian activists exercise undue influence or that their influence is waning.

Based on the remarks of Milbank and others on the left, they believe they have found a leftist messiah in Barack Obama andare emboldened by his anti-Catholic crusade. We can only hope that Obama is as ineffective in fighting the Church as he is in fighting unemployment and the national debt.
