Massachusetts diocese seeks laicization of Filipino priest
CWN - December 30, 2011
The Diocese of Worcester, Massachusetts has asked the Vatican to laicize a priest who has fled from prosecution on child-pornography charges.
Father Lowe Dongor, a native of the Philippines, apparently returned to his native land after being suspended from ministry. Worcester's Bishop Robert McManus has written to the Filipino bishops, warning them that Father Dongor is not a priest in good standing. He has now petitioned the Vatican to return him to the lay state.
Massachusetts prosecutors indicate that they will seek extradition if Father Dongor is located in the Philippines.
