Nigeria's Boko Haram sect: a reaction against colonial influence

The Fides news service provides a quick sketch of the development of Boko Haram, the Islamic extremist group that has launched a campaign of terror against Christians in Nigeria.
Boko Haram emerged in a response to the Western education brought to Nigeria by colonial governments, Fides reports. Islamic leaders in the country's north were always deeply suspicious and resentful of Christian influence, which they regarded as diabolical.
