Washington's Cardinal Wuerl asks for new appreciation of religious freedom

Cardinal Donald Wuerl of Washington, DC, emphasized religious-freedom concerns in a television interview broadcast on Christmas Day.
Cardinal Wuerl said that in light of government regulations that place new restrictions on the freedom of Church institutions, the US bishops' conference is asking people "to reflect again on the importance that in a pluralistic society, the importance of respecting the religious traditions, the religious freedom, the freedom of conscience of everyone."
