Canadian bishop faces January 4 sentencing on child-porn charge
December 20, 2011
Bishop Raymond Lahey, who pleaded guilty to child-pornography charges, will be sentenced by an Ottawa court on January 4.
As the court concluded a sentencing hearing on December 20, prosecutors charged that Bishop Lahey's lawyer was seeking to downplay the seriousness of the charges against him. The bishop was arrested after police found more than 600 pornographic images on his laptop computer. He resigned his post as Bishop of Antigonish shortly before he was charged.
