Retired Dutch bishop charged with abuse
CWN - December 20, 2011
A retired Bishop of Rotterdam has been charged with involvement in a pedophile network, as a sex-abuse scandal within the Dutch Church continues to escalate.
Bishop Phillipe Bar, who led the Rotterdam diocese from 1983 to 1993, was been accused of supporting--and perhaps being actively involved in--a group of pedophiles. Bishop Bar stepped down from episcopal ministry at the age of 64. Now 83, he has lived in a Benedictine monastery since his retirement.
