Vatican, Mozambique reach diplomatic accord

The Vatican has concluded a diplomatic agreement with Mozambique, establishing the juridical status of the Church in the African country.
The agreement, described in a Vatican communiqué as “the first of its type signed by a southern African country,” was signed on December 7 by Archbishop Antonio Arcari, the apostolic nuncio in Mozambique, and Oldemiro Julio Marques Baloi, the country’s foreign minister.
