Vatican newspaper emphasizes primacy of prayer over action
CWN - November 16, 2011
In an op-ed column published in L’Osservatore Romano, Ferdinando Cancelli, who teaches at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan, emphasized the primacy of prayer over action.
“Faced with a frenzied and inhumane activism that is far from God, the true Christian way has always been shocking: the primacy of oration over action,” Cancelli writes. “Of maximum usefulness in the Church of Jesus are not the so-called practical men nor even the pure proponents of theories, but the true contemplatives,” he added, quoting Bishop Alvaro del Portillo, the late prelate of Opus Dei.
