Archbishop Dolan 'a bit more at peace' after meeting with President Obama

Archbishop Timothy Dolan of New York, the president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), met with President Barack Obama at the White House on November 8.
Archbishop Dolan said at a November 14 press conference that he left the meeting “a bit more at peace [about religious liberty] than when I entered” and that he believed the president to be “very open to the sensitivities” of Catholics about religious liberty.
“The meeting between President Obama and Archbishop Dolan on November 8 at the White House was very cordial and included pertinent moral concerns arising in foreign and domestic policy, issues of both agreement and disagreement,” according to a USCCB statement released on November 14. “Both President Obama and Archbishop Dolan agreed that this was a private meeting, so no further details will be discussed.”

Maybe the Archbishop and Nuncio should talk to Michael Gerson before making public statements about the future of the "Church in the U.S. under this President.

Never forget the babies left to die in the buckets in Illinois. Never forget every piece of legislation. No. Obama is consistency personified. The particulars of the meeting are well known to all: Obama promotes abortion, homosexual marriage, embryonic stem cell research, removal of religion conscience clauses in all aspects of society. Oh, but he left a slight hedge of ambiguity in his remarks. Archbishop Dolan grasps at this ambiguity: "There'll be peace for Catholics in our time!"

I heard this also, but I really feel that Archbishop Dolan needs to deeply reflect back on this in time. Feelings are very elusive and deceptive when dealing with Obama and his Admininstration ( the liberal left) which, I feel, tend to dish out what you want to hear, but later on, will stab you in the back. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens. My prayers are with Archbishop Dolan.

The day after his most agreeable meeting with Archbishop Dolan in Albany last March (Catholic lobby day), the next morning, Andrew Cuomo with schoolgirl delight, proclaimed his intention to get gay marriage passed in New York by June. And he did. Compared to Obama, Cuomo is silly putty. Obama is an uncompromising lawless idealogue.

I would say in a sense that "I am happy" that the Bishop is "a bit more at peace" after his "private" discussion with the President. However, as we are in the Book of Maccabees I would hope the Most Reverend would grant me the latitude of a bit of suspiscion.
