Vatican weighing papal trip to Mexico, Cuba in 2012
CWN - November 10, 2011
The Vatican is actively considering a papal visit to Mexico and Cuba in 2012.
Father Federico Lombardi, the director of the Vatican press office, told reporters that papal nuncios in Mexico and Cuba have been instructed to inform the political leaders of those nations that the Pope is weighing a trip in the spring of next year.
Pope Benedict will make the final decision soon, Father Lombardi said, noting that preparations would need to be made quickly.
