Putin welcomes precious Marian relic to Russia
CWN - October 25, 2011
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin joined with Russian Orthodox clergy in welcoming the Holy Belt of the Theotokos to St. Petersburg. The relic will be venerated in different Russian cities over the next month.
One of the most precious relics in the Orthodox world, the Holy Belt of the Theotokos is on loan from the Monastery of Vatopedi at Mount Athos in Greece. The veneration of the relic is associated with the Blessed Mother’s intercession for infertile couples.
