Irish priests' group hears call for radical change

At its first annual meeting, the dissident Association of Catholic Priests heard a call for radical change in the Church, including the ordination of women and the promotion of a "healthy and holistic theology of sexuality."
Father Kevin Hegarty told the Irish priests' group that Church leadership has failed, and "the sea of Catholicism has receded" in Ireland. The faithful do not support the hierarchy, he said, and change is needed.

If the faithful do not support the hierarchy, then they aren't faithful, are they? It's called heresy, and if they want democracy, they have it: they can leave and join any other sect they wish. How about the dying Anglicans, for instance? Women priests, active gays, all the bells and whistles. They can gain the world and lose their souls anytime; no one in the Catholic Church is stopping them. They just can't do all that and call themselves Catholic, that's all. Simple.
