India's Christians document continued mistreatment in Orissa
CWN - September 30, 2011
The Global Council of Indian Christians has presented a petition to the national civi-rights commission listing the continuing offenses against the Christian minority in the troubled state of Orissa, where the Hindu-nationalist BJP party holds power.
The complaint lists not only violent crimes against Christians but also the complacence or even complicity of local police and government officials. The report points to ongoing legal discrimination as well.
