Cuba: Church denounces attacks on dissidents
CWN - September 06, 2011
The Church in Cuba has reiterated its condemnation of attacks on “defenseless persons” amid reports of increasing harassment of members of the dissident organization Ladies in White.
“It is well known, and we have reiterated it on various occasions, that violence of any kind, applied to defenseless persons, has no justification,” according to a local Church statement, which included a government denial of involvement: “the Cuban government ... has communicated to the Church that the order to assault these persons came from no national decision-making center.”
