Papal sympathies for Chilean crash victims

Pope Benedict XVI sent a message of condolence after an accident that killed all 21 passengers on a Chilean military plane on September 3.
The Pope’s message, conveyed in a telegram to Archbishop Ricardo Ezzati Andrello of Santiago, the president of the Chilean bishops’ conference. The Pontiff promised his “fervent prayers for the eternal response of the deceased,” and offered his sympathies to their relatives and friends.
