Lay involvement more needed now than ever, says Pontiff
November 17, 2008
The proper formation of young lay Catholics is vital to the future of the Church, Pope Benedict XVI said on November 15. He explained, in an audience with members of the Pontifical Council for the Laity: "The new generations are not only the chief recipients" of the Catholic traditions handed down through the faithful, "but also those whose hearts await proposals of truth and happiness." The Pope said that the active lay apostolates described in Christifideles Laici are "even more urgent necessary" today than when the document was released in 1988.
