Refugee camp becomes Kenya's 3rd-largest 'city'

August 19, 2011

A refugee camp for Somali refugees has become the 3rd-largest “city” in Kenya.

The Dadaab refugee camp, in northern Kenya, is now a temporary home to at least 450,000 people. Originally built for 90,000, and served by several Christian humanitarian groups, the camp is strained well beyond its resources, with 1,000 more starving refugees arriving every day.
