Irish report criticizes government involvement with Magdalene laundries
CWN - July 04, 2011
A new report on Ireland’s Magdalene laundries has focused attention on the heavy government involvement with the Church-run institutions.
The “Justice for Magdalenes” report, commissioned by victims of abuse in the institutions, found “complicity” involving seven different government departments. The Irish government is still working on its own study of the Magdalene laundries and the abuses exposed in them.
