Say what's wrong with homosexuality, journalist urges bishops

June 30, 2011

Reacting to the approval of same-sex marriage in New York, John-Henry Westen of LifeSiteNews issues an appeal to American bishops to speak out boldly in defense of marriage. The public debate will not be won, he argues, by tepid appeals to conventional ideas, or by sociological arguments on the benefits of male-female households.

The only way to truly win this debate is to raise the long-ignored subject of homosexuality itself: to teach the truth that homosexual acts are perilous to the body, and especially to the soul. To fail to do this would be to fail to address the heart of the matter.

Why do most of our bishops and priests avoid any discussion of the subject of homosexuality? Just asking.

How are young people supposed to know the peril to their souls and their salvation regarding civil unions and gay marriage if the Bishops are not clear and direct in our Lord's teaching? So far only Bishop Tobin seems to have gotten it right!
