Leaders of Legionaries likely to step down soon
CWN - June 27, 2011
The leaders of the Legion of Christ are likely to step down at the order’s next general-chapter meeting, the vicar general told the Catholic News Agency.
Father Luis Garza said that a change the next general chapter would be “a normal moment” for a change in leadership. The general chapter would also address questions about both the past and the future mission of the Legionaries. The troubled order is currently working under the eye of a special Vatican delegate, Cardinal Velasio De Paolis, who was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI to supervise the administration of the Legionaries and guide a discussion of the order’s future.
