Venezuela’s bishops lament attacks on sacred images
CWN - June 09, 2011
The officers of Venezuela’s episcopal conference have issued a statement expressing their “shock and firm repudiation” of recent attacks on sacred images.
“These attacks are added to other similar incidents that have occurred in recent years against Catholic persons, places and symbols and those of other Christian denominations,” the bishops noted. Calling for the punishment of the perpetrators, the bishops also took to task those who used sacred images for “commercial, political, or ideological ends.”
