Bishop fears Syria will become next Iraq

An auxiliary bishop of Jerusalem told Vatican Radio that he fears that a regime change in Syria could create a climate in which the nation’s 1.5 million Christians face active persecution.
“The experience of Iraq [could] be for us a paradigm,” said Bishop William Shomali. “We are afraid in some way of such results in Syria.”
