Italian cardinal: statue of John Paul II may be moved

The Vatican gave its approval for a statue of Blessed John Paul II based on a preliminary sketch, not the controversial final product, an Italian cardinal has revealed.
Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, the president of the Pontifical Council for Culture, disclosed that Vatican officials who saw the sketch were surprised by the 16-foot bronze statue that has been installed near Rome’s busy Termini train station. The negative public reaction to the statue has prompted Roman civic officials to say that it might be moved to a less prominent location. Cardinal Ravasi agreed that a move might be in order.
