Bishops fear terrorist attacks in southern Philippines

Catholic bishops in the southern Mindanao region of the Philippines are warning of the possibility of terrorist attacks, as supporters of Al Qaida seek revenge for the killing of Osama bin Laden. "Terror threats in he Mindanao area are real,” said Bishop José Colin Bagaforo, an auxiliary of the Cotabato archdiocese. “We are all vulnerable to terrorism.” Bishops in the region—where Islamic separatists have been fighting for autonomous rule—encouraged the faithful to be alert and careful.
