Ambassador Kmiec resigns following State Department report
April 18, 2011
Douglas Kmiec-- one of President Obama’s most prominent lay Catholic supporters-- has resigned from his position as ambassador to Malta following the publication of a critical State Department report.
“His unconventional approach to his role as ambassador has created friction with principal officials in Washington, especially over his reluctance to accept their guidance and instructions,” the inspector general’s report had noted. The report also chided Kmiec for shirking his diplomatic duties and devoting several hours each day to unofficial writings on religious matters.

Reading abut soon-to-be-ex-Ambassador Kmiec reminds me how much I miss Diogenes.

IF Kmiec is repentant, I wish him the grace of Bernard Nathanson who recognized that he was "one of those who helped usher in this barbaric age" and spent the rest of his life as a true pro-life activist, a strong advocate for the babies, a man who fasted and delivered himself to God's mercy.

Doug played "useful idiot" as did many leftist Catholics during the '08 election. He's no longer useful, so he's outta there.

Kmiec allowed himself to be used by a pro abortion candidate who milked their relationship so as to convince Catholics that he (Obama) was acceptable. Now, Kmiec, who voiced his moral beliefs, is no longer of value to Obama or his administration. Goodbye, Doug, and at the same time, WELCOME HOME".

I don't think I can agree. He had a chance to stand up for his faith but took his thirty pieces of sliver and his ambassadorship. Fool me once....etc. He will have am extended period of public repentance before I trust him again. And not just because he made a bad deal with this Administration and *now* sees the light.

I am no great fan of Douglas Kmiec and found his behavior in the 2008 election inexplicable for someone pro-life. That said, he has obviously been assasinated by Obama's State Department. His 'unconventional approach' consists simply of showing himself to be in accord with the deep religious feelings of the country to which he is ambassador. Ah, yes. He also exhibited 'reluctance' to accept the 'guidance and instructions' of his commisars in Washington. I think he is back in my graces.
