Pope concludes Alpine vacation August 11, 2008

Pope Benedict XVI concludes his 2-week summer vacation in the Italian Alps today, returning to Rome on Monday evening, August 11.

The Holy Father-- who had spent his vacation in the Italian Alps, lodging in the seminary of the Bressanone diocese-- will now head for his summer residence at Castel Gandolfo, to remain there through September.

During his stay in Bressanone the Pope made only a few public appearances, leading the Angelus at midday on the two Sundays he spent in the town, August 3 and 10, and meeting with priests of the region on August 6. On Saturday evening, August 9, he was made an "honorary citizen" of Bressanone in a short ceremony with the town's public officials.
