Spanish abortionists on "strike" to protest regulatory crackdown January 09, 2008
Abortion providers in Spain have declared an informal "strike" to protest government crackdowns on illegal abortions, local media report.
At least 38 abortion clinics have closed their doors this week, announcing that as many as 2,000 abortions will be postponed by their action. The gesture is a protest against the police actions in Barcelona, where 13 abortionists were arrested in November and December for failure to comply with government regulations for late-term abortions.
