Chilean president meets with Pope October 18, 2007

Pope Benedict XVI met on October 18 with Chile's President Michelle Bachelet.

A brief Vatican statement after the meeting indicated that the Pope's discussions with the Chilean leader were "cordial," and the topics of conversation included "human life and the family, education, human rights, justice and peace and other important questions on the international agenda."

After meeting with the Holy Father, Bachelet had a separate talk with Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Secretary of State, and Archbishop Dominique Mamberti, the Secretary for Relations with States.
